Conventional Literacy Instruction

There are four areas we need to work on with conventional readers and writers. Let’s work through these one by one.

For students with complex communication needs, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is, of course, a crucial part of their life – and essential for their literacy program.  We need to ensure that every student has access to a comprehensive vocabulary.

Please note: a student who is transitional also needs conventional literacy instruction.  In Australian Curriculum, transitional students are working at a Foundation level while conventional students are working at Foundation and above.
